LOG THICKNESS:
Many of our cabins have the choice of either 28mm or 45mm thickness logs. Why should it make a difference? Well if
you are wanting a garden summerhouse or store, then for most purposes the 28mm will be perfectly adequate. If you want an
office or accommodation then you need 45mm. The 45mm will be warmer and last longer.
WINDOWS & DOORS:
Extra windows and doors are available. Talk to us about the options. Also available are blinds for the windows. This
can add privacy and warmth.
TREATMENT:
We are always asked how to treat the wood. There are many proprietary products available that will suffice. Water
based products (eg Fence grade) are usually not good enough. Spirit based treatments (eg Cuprinol) are better and penetrate
the timber to provide a better barrier. Varnish and gloss paint are not recommended. Microporous paints are great for colour.
Wood stains (Sikkens) are excellent for a protective barrier, but treat inside & out. We can treat the cabin for you.
We use a Decking grade spirit based clear treatment that works well. Ask for a quote
ROOFING:
Three obvious choices are offered. The basic price includes green shed felt. It does the job but has a limited life.
Next is the red premium felt. It lasts a lot longer and looks great. Finally are Felt shingles. These are available in various
colours, though most people choose the red/brown shingles. They not only look fantastic, but also improve the insulation of
the roof. They also last twice as long as any plain felt.
